Indian squad joins in Independence Day celebrations

Jakarta: A section of the Indian contingent for the Asian Games along with chef de mission Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh joined in the Independence Day celebrations here on Wednesday.

Both the men's and women's handball team members were present at the flag hoisting ceremony organised at the official residence of Indian ambassador Pradeep Kumar Rawat.

The majority of the Indian squad is yet to arrive in Indonesia for the Games slated to begin on Saturday.

A few events such as handball and football have already begun. Both the Indian men and women lost their respective opening matches to Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan in handball.
