Ann Mary first Keralite to get NCAA Division 1 Scholarship

Basketballer Ann Mary Zachariah is all set to become the first Keralite to play in the Division 1 of the National College Athletic Association (NCAA). 

The 19-year-old has got the NCAA D1 Scholarship and signed with the Colorado State University. Ann has moved one step closer to realising her dream of playing in the WNBA. She will join the college on June 12.

Ann is the daughter of former international basketball players Zachariah Thomas and Jeena Zachariah.

The 6 ft 2 inch tall Ann made her mark while playing for Mount Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School, Kottayam. 

Ann was a member of the Indian U-18 team, which won the Asian Championship (B division) in 2018. She played a major role in Kerala's victory in the junior national championship in 2019.

Ann was invited to the NCAA's Next Generation Program at the Women's Final Four in Tampa Florida in 2019. She got a full scholarship from the Kansas State Life Prep Academy in 2020.
