Carmel Trophy basketball: KSEB edge Eastern Railway, clinch women's title

Aluva: KSEB, Thiruvananthapuram staged a brilliant comeback in the final quarter to edge Eastern Railway and emerge the women's champions of Carmel Trophy All India Basketball Tournament at the Jeevas Indoor Stadium here.

Meanwhile, Indian Navy secured the men's title defeating KSEB 95-82 in the final.

In the women's round robin league, KSEB and Eastern Railway met in the title decider and it was the Kerala team that came out on top with an 86-83 win.

For KSEB, Sreekala top scored with 22 points followed by Jeena PS with 21 while the 7ft Poonam Chathurvedi bagged 26 for the Railway team.

In the men's final, the Indian Navy led 43-39 at half-time before accelerating to victory. Mandeep Singh top scored with 24 points, including four three-pointers.

Indian Navy's Gaurav Singh and KSEB star Sreekala R were adjudged the Best Players in men and women categories respectively.
