Kerala boys' and girls' teams suffered defeats in their group matches at the 39th Youth National Basketball Championship in Kolkata.

In the boys category, Kerala lost to Tamil Nadu (68-51) and Telangana (70-59) in their group games.

In the girls category, Kerala began with a 61-30 win over Gujarat before losing, 57-72, to favourites Karnataka. Arthika top scored with 20 points for Kerala in the game against Karnataka. Meanwhile, holders Rajasthan drubbed Madhya Pradesh 79-31 in another boys' match.
