Leticia is Columbia's gateway to the verdant Amazon rainforest. This city in southern Columbia is situated in the midst of the Amazon rainforest, which is the world’s largest tropical rainforest. Leticia, which shares invisible boundaries with Santa Rosa in Argentina, Peru and Tabatinga in Brazil, is the best place for nature lovers. As Leticia is located in the middle of the rainforest, there are many eco-tourist spots in the area. If one wants to be with Mother Nature, then don’t look beyond Leticia.

What's in store in Leticia

Monkey Island: A short boat ride from Leticia will take you to the Monkey Island, which, as the name suggests, is replete with monkeys. One can reach this island by taking the service of a tour company or by hiring a taxi boat.

Reserva Natural Tanimboca: This is an adventure park on the outskirts of Leticia city. Most of the outings crisscross the rainforest, and the travellers can stay in tree houses not only during the daytime but also at night.

Puerto Narino: One can reach Puerto Narino after a two-hour boat ride from Leticia. As this town is devoid of motor vehicles a journey through this place can only be halcyon.

Aguas de Aguila: A 20-minute walk from the main town Puerto Narino will take you to the mesmerizing hot spot of Aguas de Aguila. The panoramic view of the rainforest from the hilltop is breathtaking. Here monkeys will extend the hand of friendship; parrots will fly low and dolphins will leap out of river waters in the evening.

A passport stamp is not required for a one-day visit to Leticia, but at least a week’s stay is recommended to get a ringside view of this charming city.
