Actress Veena Nair’s travel escapades with her mother-in-law

The common notion is that daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law are always at swords’ point. A mother’s love may outscore the affection from the other mom, but there are mothers-in laws who stand out with their care and warmth.

Things become easy when a girl also considers her mother-in-law as her own mother.

It is not a surprise that for some mothers-in-law their daughters-in-law are like their own daughters and give them all support. Veena, who is an avid traveller, takes time from her busy shooting schedule to hit the road and shares her special bondage with her mom-in-law. The movie and serial actress loves to go on a journey with her family members and here she shares her exciting experiences of travelling with her mother-in-law.

“Suma amma is not my mother-in-law but my mother. She supports me a lot in all my endeavours and also loves travelling a lot. I will do anything to make her happy,” notes Veena.

The first trip

Veena made her first trip with mother-in-law to Guruvayur and Mookambika after the actress got engaged to Kannan. “Though amma is over 50 years old she is very energetic and travelling with her is great fun. Amma is also a great friend of mine and I am very comfortable with her,” the actress adds.

A scary journey

Recently, Veena decided to go on a pilgrimage to Palani and Mookambika along with her mother-in-law and son. After visiting the Palani temple, the trio, along with the driver, proceeded to the Mookambika temple through the Sathyamangalam forest.

“We didn’t know that night drive through the Sathyamangalam forest was risky. We were scared stiff as we saw wild elephants on the road. We stayed put in the car for two hours for the jumbos to pass by and later resumed the journey,” she recollects with a shudder.

A surprise for mom-in-law

Veena had to go to Chennai to attend a programme and was entitled to take her assistant along with her. But the actress decided to travel with her mother-in-law as the latter had not travelled by air.

“My mom was very excited and her happiness gave me a lot of satisfaction. We visited certain places in Chennai and that trip is unforgettable for me,” says Veena.

More into temple visits

Veena and her mother-in-law usually plan visits to various temples, and they make it a point to go on pilgrimages whenever time permits. The actress loves to travel with the whole family, including her father-in-law and mother-in-law. “It is a great feeling to go on a journey with the whole family,” she notes.

The actress is also into visiting hill stations in Kerala along with her mother-in-law. “We visit Vagamon quit often and mom likes the misty hills and the nip in the air. We usually stay there for two days,” she adds.

“I and my husband plan trips to travel along with father and mother who are always confined to home. It is a great feeling to go on a journey with the whole family,” she notes.
