'Mamangam' fame Achuthan gives a water lily twist to his vlog

Achuthan, the child actor who caught the attention of Malayali moviegoers with his stellar performance in Mammootty starrer flick ‘Mamangam’, has shared the exquisite beauty of water lilies in full bloom at Ambattu Kadavu in Kottayam district on his vlog.

The video throws light on the charm of Ambattu kadavu, which is the home town of Achuthan. The place is still intact though there is a marked dip in the number of people visiting this magnificent place due to the spread of coronavirus. Ambattu Kadavu is famous for its vast expanse of water lily fields like Malarikkal, also in Kottayam district.

These floral carpets on the water are 12km away from Kottayam town and near the Panachikkadu Saraswati temple, which is known as the Dakshina Mookambika temple.

Last year, hundreds of people from far and near visited Ambattu Kadavu to enjoy the beauty of the water lilies, but this time around curbs are in place to restrict the number of visitors due to the pandemic.

Presently, people have to follow the COVID-19 protocol while visiting these floral fields, says Achuthan, who believes that water lily is the wife of the sun.

As the water lilies would wilt as the sun rises, one has to reach this pristine locale early in the morning to behold the water lilies in full bloom. The pink fields on either side of the road are simply enthralling and are the favourite hunting ground of photographers. Ambattu Kadvau is also an ideal location for wedding photo shoots.

One can also meander through the water lilies on a boat by paying a minuscule amount. Though people like to pluck lilies, Achuthan is of the view that they should not be disturbed as they look great in their natural habitat. Ambling on the pathway near the pink fields can also be equally enthralling. Though the footfall has come down drastically, Achuthan requests all to avoid overcrowding at Ambattu Kadavu in the backdrop of the epidemic.

The best time to devour this natural bliss is from 6 am to 6.30 am as after sunrise it will be impossible to see water lilies in full bloom.
