Actress Sara Ali Khan belongs to that creed of celebrities who not only love travelling but also set out on trips whenever they have time to spare and share images of their journeys on social media. Sara’s latest trip was to the Amarnath temple in Kashmir, which is renowned as a pilgrim and tourist destination. In a video posted on Instagram, Sara takes her followers too to the holy site. The video shows Sara offering a hand to cook food at the camp where she stayed, washing her face in the river and sleeping under a tree. Comments under the video praise Sara for her simplicity.

Amarnath temple is located in a cave 3,888 m above sea level. The place is 141 km away from Kashmir’s capital Srinagar. Visitors are not allowed at the cave for most part of the year as sub-zero temperatures exist. The temple is open for pilgrims from the ‘Skanda shashti’ day in July to the ‘Sravan poornima’ (Raksha bandhan) day in August every year. So, the ideal time to travel to Amarnath is during July-August.

Amarnath is also a part of the tourism circuit covering picturesque locations in Kashmir such as Srinagar, Gulmarg and Sonmarg. Sara’s social media account has photos from several other spots in Kashmir too. Earlier, Sara had travelled to several other renowned pilgrimage sites, including Kedarnath, and shared images of her trips. On the work front, Sara last appeared in ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ along with Vicky Kaushal, which was a blockbuster. Her upcoming movies are Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro in Dino’ co-starring Aditya Roy Kapur and ‘Mission Lion’, a thriller directed by Jagan Sakthi.
