Tourists not allowed in these 'dangerous' spots; one is in India

Even though tour aficionados are allowed to explore most of the picturesque locations on Earth, there are some mysterious places where their entry is banned, unless they have special permissions for research, govt projects and more. While natural phenomena that pose dangers are the reasons for restrictions in some spots, others are secret government facilities. Among the seven such areas listed below, one place is in India.

Snake Island, Brazil
True to its name, Snake Island in Brazil is teeming with the poisonous slithery creature. The Brazilian government has banned the entry of tourists to the island considering their safety and also as a means to protect the snake species inhabiting the area.

Chernobyl, Ukraine
The nuclear disaster at Chernobyl in Ukraine, when it was part of the Soviet Union, 1986 killed around 50 people and caused atomic radiation problems for hundreds of others. High levels of radiation exist in this area even now. The ghost city of Pripyat was also created following the disaster. Visitors can travel to some safe areas in Chernobyl, but entry is not allowed to several spots.

Svalbard Global Seed Vault
Located in Norway, the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a solution to a possible food shortage owing to a massive natural disaster or widespread destruction caused by human intervention. Ordinary people are banned from entering the area where the seeds are stored under high security.

Area 51, the United States
A high-security area where the tests of fighter jets and weapons of the US Air Force are conducted, Area 51 is reportedly the location where unidentified flying objects and extraterrestrial beings that are believed to have come into possession of the US are kept. Extremely high security measures are in place at Area 51 and anyone crossing the boundary is warned about being shot without questions.

Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center, the US
Built near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center is an alternative facility for the US Government to function in the case of an emergency. Everything about the Center is confidential and visitors are not allowed.

Secret archives at the Vatican
The Secret Archives House at Vatican City stores ancient documents related to the Vatican having a sensitive nature. Only qualified researchers and those in charge of the archives can enter the place as revealing the contents of the historical documents, some of which are several centuries old, could create major controversies.

North Sentinel Island, India
A part of Andaman and Nicobar, North Sentinel Island is home to the ancient Jarawa tribe. People of this tribe resist the entry of outsiders to their island and also wish to keep away from other people. Consequently, the Indian authorities have imposed a ban on visitors to this island.
