The annual camping season, designed to offer tourists the opportunity to enjoy the winter, is underway in the Sakhir desert of Bahrain. The season that commenced in early November will continue till February 29, 2024, under the auspices of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority. Various organizations are conducting art and cultural programmes, while families and other groups contribute to the grandeur of the camping season with their campfires. The purpose of launching the camping season in Bahrain is to enthusiastically celebrate the arrival of winter after an intense summer. The Sakhir desert event provides a safe environment for families and individuals to set up tents, stay, engage in various celebrations, and prepare and enjoy food.

This year, an app named Al Junobya, available in both Arabic and English, has been introduced for the camping season, named Khayyam. Visitors are required to adhere to the norms established by the authorities while camping. Those who come for camping are permitted to pitch their tents only in designated areas, and all such details are accessible through the mobile application. The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), established in 2015, focuses on promoting Bahrain's tourism sector. BTEA organises programmes to attract tourists from both within and outside the country. The objective of the BTEA is to augment the contribution of tourism to Bahrain's economy.
