The water lilies or blue lotus bloomed abundantly at the fields in Malarickal offers a scintillating sight to the residents of Kottayam. These fields which were flooded during the times of the deluge are now covered in beautiful water lilies. Hundreds of people visit the fields at Malarickal to enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of the blooming water lilies.

Though these flowers would be destroyed when the fields readied to restart farming, it does not affect beauty of Malarickal. The panchayat has decided to initiate an eco tourism project here.

Malarickal is a suitable palce to enjoy the sunset on the backdrop of lush green fields. With significant development in the water tourism and rural tourism projects, this quaint little village would soon be turned into a major tourist spot in the district.
