Boat service from Oct 21

A boat service will be launched from October 21 for a few days in order to allow visitors to enjoy the entire area. At present, there is a bus service from Kanjiram jetty to Malarikkal. Now, visitors can take a boat ride to reach there. The boat ride will help visitors enjoy Vettikad in Thiruvarppu, Malarikkal, Irambam and Pazhukkanilam.

600-acre water lily bloom

The paddy fields are getting ready for farming in places where the water level is receding. However, the water lily bloom would continue for 15 more days, said K Anil Kumar, the coordinator of the Meenachil-Meenanthara-Kodoor River Linking Programme.

The water lilies are spread across 600 acres of paddy fields.

How to reach

From Kottayam reach Illikkal junction. On the Thiruvarppu road, take the left turn. Malarikkal is where the bridge ends on the Kanjiram boat jetty road. Those coming from Kumarakom, reach Illikkal and take the right and continue on the Thiruvarppu road.
