The whole country is in the grip of coronavirus fear. In a bid to check the spread of coronavirus, 14-day quarantine is mandatory for expatriates and people stranded in other states returning to Kerala. Besides government facilities, people are also availing the service of star hotels and resorts to put themselves in self-isolation.
Anyone returning to the state has the opportunity to choose tourist centres, hotels or resorts for self-isolation. A list of 169 hotels and resorts, which has 4,617 rooms, in the state has been prepared where paid quarantine is available. The guidelines and information relating to selecting hotels in districts of preference are mentioned on the website of NoRKA Roots.
Quarantine facilities at Kumarakom
The resorts of Kumarakom, a tourist hub in Kottayam district, provide quarantine facilities. Tharavadu Heritage Home, KTDC Hotel Tamarind, Taj Hotel, Illikkalam and Manor Backwater, among others are all geared up to welcome guests for paid quarantine.
Tharavadu Heritage Home has air-conditioned rooms with two beds, TV and other essential facilities, and food will be provided at room. As per government directions, people in quarantine have to wash their utensils and clothes. Food will be served as per the hotel’s menu and delicacies will also be prepared according to guests’ requests. For two persons, the paid quarantine rate is Rs 3,600 per day.
