Travelling through Kottayam? Take a break at these 18 restrooms

Kottayam: Those who are travelling to Kottayam, can now breathe a sigh of relief! The district now will have 18 roadside restrooms called 'Take a break'. They will be equipped with squeaky clean washrooms and other modern amenities. Based on the facilities, you can choose between basic, standard, and premium centres.

Six standard centres and 12 basic restrooms were inaugurated on Tuesday. Premium centres haven’t yet started. According to the Hygiene Mission district coordinator, these centres will be managed by the Kudumbashree unit. At least 127 centres are expected to open in the district this year.

At the basic restrooms, there will be two washrooms, standard restrooms will have 4 washrooms. That apart the standard restrooms will have changing rooms, feeding rooms and leisure spaces. Premium restrooms will have washrooms for differently-abled, apart from the other 5 washrooms. The Kudumbashree units are planning to start a coffee shop as well.

Though there is a coffee shop at Kottayam Nagambadam restrooms, that facility is only accessible to standard centres. The rates at the centres are decided by local bodies.
