Kottayam: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced more destinations for its much-popular budget tourism packages.

The new trips would start from the Kottayam depot of the public carrier and an added attraction of these packages is the parking facility available for passengers at the bus station. The tourism trips will be conducted on the following days:

May 21: The destination is Anchuruly and the fare per passenger is Rs 580. The bus will depart at 5.30 am and arrive back in Kottayam depot by 10 pm. The route of the trip covers the dams at Idukki, Cheruthoni and Kulamavu; Calvary Mount; Anchuruly, Vagamon Meadows and Pine Valley.

May 23: The package takes tourists to Sambranikodi and Munroe Thuruthu and ticket charge is Rs 990. Leaving Kottayam at 6 am, the bus will return to the same place by 10 pm. The fare includes expenses for canoeing on the backwaters.

May 26: This trip is Gavi and the fare is Rs 1,650 per person which covers lunch, entry fee and boating charges. The KSRTC bus will start from Kottayam at 5 am and head to Pathanamthitta, from where a 70-km jungle safari starts. Boating is also part of the schedule and after visiting Parunthumpara, the bus will arrive back in Kottayam by 10 pm.

New daily service to Munnar

Meanwhile, the KSRTC has launched a daily regular super-fast service which would be beneficial for tourists to the renowned hill station of Munnar. This service starts from Kollam depot at 4.50 am and takes the Karunagappally, Kayamkulam, Mavelikkara and Thiruvalla route to reach Changanassery bus stand by 6.50 am.

From Changanassery, the super-fast bus covers Thengana, Vakathanam, Puthuppally and Manarcaud. From Manarcaud, the route is along Pala, Thodupuzha, Paingottoor, Oonnukal, Neriyamangalam, Adimali and Anachal. The scheduled arrival time at Munnar is 12.10 pm.

The return trip to Kollam leaves Munnar at 4 pm and taking the same route arrives at Changanassery by 9.25 pm. The bus later reaches Kollam by 11.45 pm.
