Onam-special trains from Chennai and Bengaluru announced: Details

Chennai: The railways have announced a special train to manage the seasonal rush in trains to southern Kerala ahead of the Onam festival. The Chennai Central – Kollam (06119) weekly train will operate on all Wednesdays from August 27 to September 10. The train that starts at 3.10 pm from Chennai reaches Kollam at 6.40 am the next morning. Meanwhile, the return services (06120) are on Thursdays from August 28 to September 11. The train departs Kollam at 10.40 am and reaches Chennai by 3.30 pm. Chennai Central – Kollam train has stops at Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanassery, Thiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikkara, Kayamkulam, Karunagapally and Shasthamkotta in Kerala. The booking window is now open.
Other trains
1) SMVT Bengaluru – Thiruvananthapuram North Weekly Express Festival Special (06523) will be in service on August 11, 18, 25 and September 1, 8 and 15. The train will depart from Bengaluru station at 7.25 pm and reach Thiruvananthapuram North station at 1.15 pm. For the return journey, the 06524 train will leave Thiruvananthapuram North station at 3.15 pm on August 12, 19, 26, and September 2, 9 and 16. It will arrive in Bengaluru at 8.30 am the next day.
2) SMVT Bengaluru – Thiruvananthapuram North Express Special (06547) is scheduled for August 13, 27 and September 3. It will depart Bengaluru at 7.25 pm and reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 1.15 pm. For the return journey, the train (06548) will leave on service on August 14, 28 and September 4. It will leave North Station at 3.15 pm and reach Bengaluru at 8.30 am the next day.
