New Delhi: The results of the Central University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2024, the national-level qualifying exam for admissions to graduate degree courses held from May 15 to 24, are likely to be published on July 22. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the exam, stated that an online re-test for around 1,000 candidates who had raised complaints will take place on July 19, with results expected soon after.
Initially, NTA announced that the results would be released on June 30. However, following a controversy over the exams, a delay occurred, and it was announced that the results would be published on July 10. Further delay ensued after a re-test was ordered, prompted by genuine complaints from candidates. Over 250 candidates had appeared for the test at Oasis Public School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, where the question paper for NEET-UG was found to have leaked.
Meanwhile, the provisional answer key of the online exam is likely to be released the day after the re-test, and candidates' responses will be sought. Subsequently, the authorities plan to publish the results on July 22.
The delay in announcing CUET-UG results has adversely affected candidates seeking admission to institutions such as Delhi University (DU). In total, 261 institutions, including Hyderabad and Pondicherry Universities, conduct admissions to undergraduate courses based on CUET-UG. As per the present situation, DU can start first-year degree classes only after August 16, while several private and state universities have already commenced this year’s first-year degree classes.
The CUET-UG exam conducted in a hybrid mode for the first time across the country was cancelled in Delhi a night before the scheduled exam day, citing logistical reasons. The exam was conducted in the national capital later.
