Kannur native wins Rs 1 crore in Dream11 contest

Kannur: A Kannur native has notched up the prize money of Rs 1 crore in the virtual game of Dream11. The winner is K M Rasiq from Panoor in the district.

Contestants of Dream11 need to create a virtual team of 11 players from the two teams that would face-off in the Indian Premier League (IPL) every day. Depending on the runs scored, boundaries hit and wickets taken by the players during that particular match, the virtual team owner will get points.

During the Kolkata Knight Riders-Chennai Super Kings match on Wednesday, Rasiq's Dream11 team got 790.5 points. He was able to surpass nearly 55 lakh other contestants, from both within and outside the country, to emerge winner in the fantasy sports contest. This is the highest prize money that a contestant can win in the daily contests of the Dream11.

Rasiq runs a stationary shop at the AKG Hospital in Kannur. He is also a member of the Panoor Cricket Players' Club. After tax deductions, Rasiq will get Rs 70 lakh.
