CPM worker hacked by goons at Erattupetta

Erattupetta: A 45-year-old CPM worker was hacked by a gang at Aruvithura in Erattupetta of Kottayam district on Saturday.

Noorsalam, who was injured in the attack, was admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital.

The CPM alleged that the SDPI was behind the attack. However, municipal committee president K E Rashid said that the SDPI had no role in the incident.

The incident happened near Aruvuthura college around 9am on Saturday. Noorsalam was heading to Erattupetta on his scooter when the gang, who arrived on a two-wheeler, attacked him.

The cops, who were on election duty at the college, rushed towards the spot but the assailants had fled by then.
