Chirayinkeezhu: A family of four, including two teens, were found hanging at their house at Kizhuvilam area here in south Kerala. Police have reportedly found a suicide note stating the family was debt-ridden.

The dead are Subi (51), his wife Deepakumari (41), their children Akhil (17) and Haripriya (13) of Vilayil House.

All found were found dead in the bedroom.

The family's pet dog was likely poisoned before they killed themselves. The dog was found in a bad condition.

The local residents came to know of the suicides on Thursday night. A few neighbours had arrived at the house as they suspected something amiss as no lights were found late in the evening. Upon search, they chanced upon the hanging bodies.

Subi had returned from the Middle East one-and-a-half years ago after losing his job. He had opened a shop at Kurakkada locality.

Haripriya was a Class-7 student and her brother Akhil was in the Plus-2. The former was a student of the Government Upper Primary School at Palakunnu locality. Akhil studied at the Government Higher Secondary School at Kunthaloor.
