Artists from Kerala offer a colourful salute to COVID warriors

The installation was conceptualised and coordinated by Kollam-based artist Lal Renjith.

Artists across the world have been paying tributes to the frontline warriors fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in different ways in the past few months. Now, a group of artists from Kerala, settled across the world, has come out with an 'Art Salute' to show their respect to all the people engaged in the works to contain the deadly disease.

'Art Salute' is a short video installation in which over 100 artists offer a salute with their palms soaked in colours, the key medium of their creativity. The installation was conceptualised and coordinated by Kollam-based artist Lal Renjith.

"Art Salute is our way of expressing the respect we have for all the COVID warriors right from cleaning staff to doctors. The installation was made using the videos sent by Malayali artists from various countries through WhatsApp," Lal Renjith said.

The video was release online by renowned scientist and writer Ethiran Kathiravan from the US.
