Curated by Kochi-based art curator Tanya Abraham and exhibited by the NGO The Art Outreach Society (TAOS), the digital art exhibition titled 'A Thousand Fragmented Sunbeams: Digital Art, Healing, and Expression' by artists Pinkoblue and Devius explores themes of gender, domestic abuse, and sexual identity.
Departing from traditional gallery spaces, Tanya Abraham opted to display the exhibition in a popular public space, specifically a bar in Kochi. According to Tanya, this decision was influenced by the city's thriving bar culture, aiming to reach a broader audience and facilitate dialogue on art and social issues.
The exhibition features footage from a healing and expression workshop for women victims of abuse, along with works by Kolam artists from the local community. These elements were incorporated into the digital artwork by emerging artists, creating pieces that speak to both societal concerns and the bar culture aesthetic.
Located at 'Velocity', a lounge bar in Kochi, this exhibition serves as a unique example of how art can engage with community life and foster social impact. Tanya Abraham emphasizes the importance of art extending beyond traditional spaces to connect with diverse audiences and environments.
