Kochi: The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), which is facing flak for the move to reinstate the membership of actor Dileep, has decided to convene a special meeting of its executive committee.

The top leaders of the association have sent a letter to the committee members to attend the meeting which will discuss 'a serious matter'. AMMA will also hold talks with the representatives of the Women in Cinema Collective. Sources said an invitation is likely to be issued to actors Revathi, Padmapriya and Parvathy, who had protested AMMA's move to re-induct Dileep. The three actors had written to the AMMA to convene an executive meet and reconsider the decision to revoke the expulsion of Dileep.

The agenda of the meeting will be finalised soon after actor Mohanlal, who took charge as the president of the association recently, returns from London.

The decision to revoke the expulsion of Dileep invited wrath of many as the actor is still an accused in the actress attack case of February 17, 2017. Dileep was expelled from the actors' body after he was arrested for allegedly plotting the attack and sexual assault of the young actress.

Four actors - Geethu Mohandas, Remya Nambeesan, Rima Kallingal and the victim - resigned from AMMA following the decision to take back Dileep.

AMMA's argument is that the decision to oust Dileep was taken hurriedly and without hearing what he had to say.

Dileep has maintained that he does not wish to be active in any association until he is proven innocent in the case.
