Film buffs will have to wait to watch some of the keenly awaited Onam releases after the Film Exhibitors United Organization of Kerala (FEUOK) postponed all release in solidarity with flood victims.
Organisation member MC Bobby said here on Thursday that all releases had been postponed 'as a mark of solidarity' with the flood-affected. The Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce had a meeting with the producers, exhibitors and distributors on Thursday and set the release dates for all upcoming movies. Here's the list:
September 7: Theevandi and Ranam
Sepetember 14: Oru Kuttanadan Blog and Padayottam
Sepetember 20: Johny Johny Yes Papa, Varathan, and Mangalayam Thantunanena
Sepetember 28: Chalakudykaaran Changathi and Lilli
October 2: Drama
Meanwhile, the dates of big budget movies Kayamkulam Kochunni and Odiyan is yet to be finalised.
Bobby earlier had said that FEUOK is planning to calibrate the releases in such a way that only one movie will hit the screens a week.
This is to avoid films clashing with each other dragging the box office revenues.
Five Malayalam movies were lined up for release this week as Onam releases.
Mammootty's Oru Kuttanadan Blog, Fahadh Faasil's Varathan, Biju Menon's Padayottam, Nivin Pauly's Kayamkulam Kochunni and Tovino Thomas's Theevdandi were slated to hit the screens during Onam.
