Beena Antony hopes to rally her spirits after flood damper

Many celebrities have been sharing pictures and videos online of their houses which have been severely damaged in the recent floods in Kerala.

Popular mini-screen actress Beena Antony's house at North Paravoor in Ernakulam district too was submerged in the flood waters. Beena’s husband Manoj, who is also an actor, showed the state of his ancestral home in a Facebook live video.

Recalling the chilling experience, the actress said that her family had hoped that water wouldn’t gush into the house. However, the road in front of the house was flooded first and by evening water entered her house. The family didn’t even get enough time to shift the home appliances to the first floor.

“Everyone shifted to a relative’s house nearby. But when they returned the next day, the ground floor was completely submerged. We were able to open the house only four days later when the water receded. The interior got completely destroyed in the floodwaters. Furniture, books, beds and a few awards too were damaged. TV and fridge were floating around, and car which was parked in the porch too was submerged,” Beena narrated.

The actress said that her in-laws are currently staying on the first storey as the cleaning of the house is on. She added that it would take at least a month to get everything back to normal but also hoped that everyone shall overcome the hard time. A few of her cousins, meanwhile, stayed at her house at Vyttila in Ernakulam town when their homes were flooded.

“I know my losses are nothing compared to the losses suffered by many others. The situation at many relief camps around Paravoor was pathetic in the first few days. There are many who do not even have a house to go back to. Some even lost everything that they have saved in their life time. So this time there were no grand celebrations or get together for Onam. I pray that everything becomes alright soon,” she hoped.
