It has been more than two decades since Silk Smitha left this world, but her popularity persists not only in the tinsel town but also in the hearts of millions of her fans across South India. After the record success of ‘Dirty Picture’ based on the spicy life of the sultry south Indian siren, made by Ekta Kapoor, Silk Smitha is all set to scorch the screen once again.
This time it is not yet another biopic, but an original one that has been lying buried in a box for the past two-and-a-half decades. According to a little bird, a Tamil director, who made a film with the 80's celluloid sensation but could not release it for reasons unknown, is dusting the old reels to release now, albeit with certain changes. It may be mentioned here that hit Tamil director Pa Ranjit has announced a web series on the life of the buxom beauty and matinee goddess of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada film buffs.
According to sources, a Tamil director, Tirupati Rajan, made a movie with Silk Smitha in the mid-eighties but could not release it somehow. He is now on the job to release it, and is working on some modification to bring a fresh appeal to the flick, it is learnt. He is said to be trying for the dates of some new-gen actors so that he can retain Silk Smitha’s takes and then alter the topic to suit the tastes of new-age filmgoers.

Originally titled ‘Thanga Thamarai,' the film will be rechristened as ‘Raga Talangal,' if grapevines are to be believed.

Despite the bad patches the sizzling actress had to endure in the prime of her life, those sensuous eyes and tempting looks, coupled with her acting prowess, continue to enchant film-goers and sure will remain a saga worth remembering!
