Tollywood, one of the biggest film industries in the world, is undergoing hard times. Be it scandalous allegations of casting couch or unsettling reports of drug abuse, the underbelly of Telugu glamour villa has always been in news, apparently for all wrong reasons!

While hundreds of tasteless, scurvy and sleazy films are made splurging crores of rupees every year, Tollywood also have some bold and unconventional movies being made occasionally. However, another malady that is widespread, denting the revenues of blockbusters, is unbridled piracy.

There were many instances where producers lost huge money due to the prevailing evil and the latest victim is Taxiwallah, starring Vijay Devarakonda, the most talked-about hero of new generation.

Vijay’s another recent hit Gita Govindam also incurred huge losses due to piracy and the authorities seem to be up the creek in controlling the menace. When some youth were watching ‘Taxiwallah’ on mobile phones at Devarapally in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, the police stumbled upon them and got yet another shock as latest releases, made spending a fortune, are freely available for unscrupulous elements all the time!

Though those who were watching the film on mobile phones were arrested, the actual culprits remain at large, continuing to pose a major threat to film industry.

‘Taxiwallah’, directed by Rahul Sankrityan, is produced by Gita Arts and UV Creations. Incidentally, Delhi-bred Malayali girl Malavika Nair is doing an important role in the film.
