Thiruvananthapuram: Hundreds of people turned up at noted violinist Balabhaskar’s residence here to pay their last respects to the musical genius. Countless fans and friends thronged his home ‘Hiranmaya’ at LIC lane, in the capital city, to see their favourite musician for the last time; however, they were at a loss how to console the couple's parents.
Balabhaskar’s mother Shantakumari and Lakshmi’s mother Omanakumari wailed when the mortal remains of the musician were brought home. Shantakumari collapsed unable to watch the lifeless body of her beloved son. Relatives then took both the women inside. CK Unni, Balabhaskar’s father, and Lakshmi's father Sundaresan Nair too were overwhelmed with grief.
It was at ‘Hiranmaya’ where Balabhaskar and Lakshmi who married young began their life together. Lakshmi who is recovering at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram still doesn’t know that her beloved husband and darling daughter had bid farewell to this world.
Friends and relatives, who found it hard to control their tears, din’t know how to convey this tragic news to Lakshmi. They wonder whether she would be able to survive the loss of her husband, who were married when both were only 22, and daughter Tejaswini, who was born to the couple after a wait for almost 16 years.
