Dancer Methil Devika has broken her silence on the #MeToo controversy involving husband Mukesh, the actor.

“I spoke to Mukesh about the allegations against him. But he says that he does not remember such an incident. Mukesh, I believe, never lies to me,” said Devika.

Expressing her support to the #MeToo campaign, Devika also said that she is not worried over the charges against Mukesh.

“When I look at the issue from the point of view of any other woman, my reaction is a big shock. But as Mukesh’s wife, I have no idea about what had happened so many years ago. When I raised the matter with him, he was firm that he could not recollect such an incident. He doesn't usually tell me lies,” Devika explained.

Devika also said it is she who often checks the messages on Mukesh’s phone. “Many women send very provocative messages to him. Many times, it is I who reply to these messages. As a wife, I consider such messages as an offence. Is there no campaign against such acts?” Asked the noted dancer.

She also questioned the intention behind raising the issue after such a long period. “At that time, such an action might not have been considered as harassment. Now, the same act could be termed an offence. But it may be remembered that a person can undergo change over the years. So, instead of raking up an old incident, the people involved in it should be given an opportunity to change,” Devika said.
