It's been 20 years since 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' has been released and movie buffs still can't get over the friendship-love drama. After the movie was released on October 16, 1998 Rahul played by Shah Rukh Khan and the film became a range among the youth.
'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', aka KKHH, in fact went on to become one of the best romantic movies ever made in Bollywood. As part of the anniversary celebrations, the director of the film Karan Johar threw a party on Tuesday which was attended by the who's who of B-town.
Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor, Manish Malhotra, Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter and several others were present.
At the event, Shah Rukh said, “Karan came and narrated an utterly crap story to me. Later, the man with the many words tried to impress me with his nonsense story. So yes, I really did not understand the story when I signed the movie and just went ahead with the conviction of Karan otherwise the film would never have had happened.”
Karan also recalled how Shah Rukh gave him the confidence to be a director. He revealed it was Shah Rukh who suggested him to start the shoot of the film with a song, as he could settle down by then. “Farah did the songs and Shah Rukh asked me to supervise it. Then I got confidence. Now I always tell first-time directors to start with a song because the atmosphere is fun and light so you can settle with your characters and then start your film,” he said.
“What I realised is that when you have fun off screen it translates on screen. Your off-screen equation is conveyed on screen. There is some relatability, touchability, that comes on screen. You don’t know what is it that attracts people,” Kajol recalled her experience of working on 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'.
