Actresses irked by journalist's tweet on Dileep
Sridevi Sreedhar, an entertainment reporter, tweeted a photo of the star couple and shared the news that the 'lovely couple' were blessed with a baby girl.

A woman journalist drew flak from south Indian actresses when she congratulated Malayalam actor Dileep and Kavya Madhavan on the birth of their daughter.

Sridevi Sreedhar, an entertainment reporter in Tamil Nadu, tweeted a photo of the star couple and shared the news that the 'lovely couple' were blessed with a baby girl.

A host of actresses, including Lakshmi Manchu, Raai Laxmi, Taapsee Pannu, Shriya Saran and Rakul Preet, took objection to the post on social media.

“Can't believe you tagged… Dileep to be lovely who's still on criminal records for getting an actress kidnapped and almost raped! Women in Malayalam aren't able to work because they stood up against him. And here you and the media are in favour of him! What a shame,” replied Lakshmi Manchu.

Raai Lakshmi came out in support of Lakshmi Manchu. “This is totally unacceptable,” she wrote. “This tweet shows what a woman she is.”

Shriya Saran also jumped in the bandwagon. “This man allegedly got a woman raped. Being a woman, you should be ashamed of congratulating him.”

Taapsee Pannu was equally critical. “And please convey my wishes to your friend for the baby girl and he should promise his daughter that he will never let any man do what he did to another woman.”

Rakul Preet told the journalist that media should stop glorifying people like Dileep. “If we do not take a stand who will? Unbelievable that a tweet like this comes from you,” she wrote.
