Stills from the viral video (L) and a still from the movie 'Mangalam Nerunnu'

It's quite natural to put babies to sleep with lullabies. But singing a lullaby to put an elephant to sleep seems like unique and crazy.

A man in Thrissur, Kerala, sang the evergreen song 'Alliyilam Poovo' from the 1984 Malayalam movie 'Mangalam Nerunnu' for his elephant.

Just like in the movie, actor Nedumudi Venu puts baby Shalini to sleep, the man in the video gently pats the elephants back like a child.

Interestingly, the elephant went to sleep, listening to the melodious song . At the end of the video, one can see that the man hugging the elephant as it lies close to him.

The video is now breaking the internet. To the surprise of every Malayalis, China Xinhua News shared the lovely video and captioned, “Man sings elephant to sleep with lullaby in Kerala, India” (sic.).
