It's salute time for our Defence Forces as India managed to settle a score with Pakistan-based terrorists with a surgical strike on terror camps as Tuesday dawned. While you are still in awe of the thumbs-up moment, we take you through some of the evergreen hit dialogues from movies that inspired us and aroused patriotic fervour.
Lakshya
The 2004 movie starring Hrithik Roshan in the lead was directed by Farhan Akhtar. The moment when Col. Sunil Damle, played by Amitabh Bachchan, shares his success story as an army man is truly inspiring. Here it is:
“A billion people trust us to stay awake so they may sleep. This trust is a great honour and a great responsibility.”
Keerthi Chakra
This 2006 Malayalam movie, starring Mohanlal, is directed by Major Ravi, who had retired from the Indian Army and it seems like he had made the movie from the experiences he had while in the service of the nation. We get to feel the pride of an army man when we relate to what Major Mahadevan tells a human rights activist.
“Army men are not like those who call themselves Indians only when there is a war; rather we hold our nation close to our heart in each and every breath.”
Sainyam
The 1993 Mammootty-starrer directed by Joshiy is one of the most stylish army movies made in Malayalam. The movie ends with a note stating 'A tribute to the Indian Air Force' and we can't help but applaud to each dialogues made in the movie. Here's one from the climax where young boys help out the army men.
“Blessed is my country where we have kids like you”.
Rang De Basanti
Aamir Khan's 2006 movie is about a documentary filmmaker, but it also speaks about our freedom fighters and army men. This Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra film is inspiring for youth. Its fans can relate to wise maxims like the one here:
“There are only two ways to live your life. Tolerate things the way they are. Or take responsibility to change them.”
Thuppakki
The 2012 A.R. Murugadoss film shows that the army men are on duty even when they are on a holiday. And Vijay as an intelligence officer in the Indian Army shines with his limited dialogues and mass action scenes. One scene where the villain warns our hero that he will kill him and the latter's brief reply “I'm waiting” tells a lot.
