After 19 years, Maathu back in a Malayalam movie

Yesteryear actress Maathu, who is known among Malayalam movie buffs for her roles in 'Amaram', 'Sadayam', 'Savidham', Ratholsavam' etc., is gearing up for a comeback into the movie industry.

Maathu, who has been settled in the US since quite sometime, will be seen gracing the big screen after 19 years. She will be seen playing a prominent role in director Rajeev Nath’s upcoming film 'Aniyankunjum Thannalayathu'.

Talking to a daily, the actress revealed that she had been missing doing films and that she did reflect on why she was on a sabbatical.

Although there were a couple of offers coming in, Maathu said she wanted to spend time with family and waited for her kids to grow up.

Maathu, who got divorced from Dr. Jacob five years ago, got married to a Tamil Nadu native Anpalagan George an year ago. And now, they have six children including her husband’s kids from his previous marriage.

Maathu, currently runs a dance school in the US, and has plans to expand it outside the country in a while.

Meanwhile, 'Aniyankunjum Thannalayathul' was shot in the US and have prominent names including Geetha, Renji Panicker, Indrans, Bhagyalakshmi, Abhirami, Nandu etc.

Maathu or Madhavi stepped into filmdom through a Kannada film 'Sannadi Appanna' released in 1977. She made an emphatic presence in almost all the south Indian language films in the next 20 years.
