It seems to be a comeback season for veteran stars! We recently reported how yesteryear actress Mathu is all set for her comeback to Mollywood and so is Geethu. And here's yet another talented star who is set to return to the big screen. Jalaja, who won the Best Actress state award for the 1981 movie 'Venal', is on the return trail.
The 57-year-old will be seen playing a pivotal role in the movie titled 'Thalanarizha' which will be directed by Samjith Mohammed. Interestingly, Samjith has been the editor of more than 28 films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Bollywood and this will be his directorial debut.
Samjith recently edited the much-awaited movie 'Lucifer' directed by Prithviraj.
“After wrapping up 'Lucifer', Samjith is all set to begin shooting in Kottayam. I have been hesitant to take up roles as I had apprehensions that people will compare me with earlier roles. Unless I have some really ground breaking role, I was hesitant to commit. Initially, I had the opportunity to work with big directors or legends,” said Jalaja on her return.
Jalaja got married to Prakash Nair on September 3, 1993 and has been settled in Bahrain since then.
Talking about her family, she said, “I have a daughter, Devi. She finished her studies in the US and while we thought that she will soon be taking up a job, she told us that she's interested in movies. So, now I am waiting for a good opening for her as well.”
An active actress in the 1970s and 1980s, Jalaja is most known for her roles in ,Chaakara', 'Perumthachan', 'Ulkkadal', 'Shalini Ente Koottukari', 'Oru Muthassi Katha', 'Ennennum Kannettante' etc. She made her debut with the 1978 movie 'Thampu' directed by G Aravindan.
She was last seen in the 1992 movie 'Gouri'.
