Kerala cops venture into film production with 'Kazhchakkappuram'

Kannur: The Kerala Police are producing an awareness film packaged as a commercial movie to spread awareness on various crucial issues among higher secondary students. Titled ‘Kazhchakkappuram’, the shooting of the Malayalam film is progressing.

Meanwhile, the trailer of the movie will be released on actor Nivin Pauly’s Facebook page at 6 pm on March 23. It will also be available on the page of the Kerala Police.

Dealing with topics such as road safety, women’s security and protection of children, the film has been scripted by Kottayam district police chief Harishankar. Anshad Karuvanchal is the director of the movie, in which noted actor Saiju Kurup plays the main role. Other characters have been enacted by Kuttiyadi circle inspector of police K J Vinoy and Sadanandan Chepparambu, who had earlier acted in the acclaimed movie ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, among other police personnel.

The main shooting location is Alakkode police station. While Gopi Sunder has arranged the background music, Mafia Sasi has organized the fight sequences. R R Vishnu is the cinematographer of ‘Kazhchakkappuram’.

The makers are planning to complete the work before June, in order to screen the movie before students when the new academic year starts. The police hope that ‘Kazhchakkappuram’ would prevent the students from engaging in freak-outs.
