'Veli' short film: the fence that divides

“Sir, I don't want my drink in a steel glass. I want it in a glass one,” says a little boy and the over 12 minute long video makes us ponder.

The short 'Veli' is garnering attention and getting applauds for right reasons. One among the three writers of Kunchacko Boban-starrer 'Allu Ramendran', Vineeth Vasudevan is donning the director's cap and Nikhila Vimal has produced the film.

But what catches our eyeballs is the innocent depiction of a serious subject. Revolving around a few kids, who come to their teacher's house for rehersing a drama based on 'Ramayana', the short film depicts the inherent caste discrimination prevailing in our society.

This is not the first time that Vineeth is going behind the camera. Earlier, he had directed yet another short film titled Nilam starring Sajitha Madathil in the lead which was based on female toilet issue. Apart from that Vineeth is Chakyar koothu artiste professionally. Vineeth will be seen playing a pivotal role in the Malayalam film Porattam whose preview screening was held recently.

While the frames of thought-provoking short film 'Veli' is helmed by Appu Prabhakar, the music is handled by Mujeeb Majeed. The film has won several awards at many film festivals including International film of Adoor, Icon film festival and Artha film festival.
