Kochi: The move to amend the Constitution of ‘AMMA’, the organization of Malayalam movie stars, has been postponed. AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) president Mohanlal said after a general body meeting of the organization here that more discussions would take place on the proposed amendments.
“All members could not express their opinions at the meeting. Members can also present more suggestions in writing. No objections have been raised so far; only some modifications have been submitted,” he added.
According to Mohanlal, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Revathy and Shammi Thilakan have expressed their opinion, which would be considered. “Members who resigned from AMMA are yet to apply for rejoining the body. They can return by submitting an application for the purpose,” added the star.
AMMA received various suggestions submitted by Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) on diverse matters, including the constitutional amendment, said Mohanlal.
“Objections raised by WCC were supported with documents. Revathy and Parvathy Thiruvoth represented WCC,” said the star.
Meanwhile, Mammootty called for re-enlisting the actresses who had resigned from AMMA. “They should be taken back waiving even the application fees. Problems have to be studied in detail for solving them,” said Mammooty in the meeting, where he also called for the Constitution's amendment.
Revathy said after the meeting that she was given the opportunity to express her views. “WCC’s suggestions were presented before the general body. We are awaiting its decision in this regard,” said the actress while leaving the venue.
The amendment is aimed at ensuring the representation of women in top posts of AMMA.
