When actress Sharada's debt was repaid by producer Antony after 40 years

When producer Antony gave away the cash to actress Sharada at the event

Kochi: Veteran producer VV Antony had been patiently waiting at the Ernakulam Town Hall for yesteryear actress Sharada to arrive. He had in fact waited 40 long years for this meeting, to settle a debt. Sharada had acted in the movie Pushyaragam produced by Antony in 1979. The producer, however, couldn’t pay the entire payment for the actress due to financial crisis. Though Antony, a native of Aluva, had tried his luck by financing two more movies, none of them was financially lucrative.

Now, the former producer enjoys a stable financial set up as his children are well settled and all his debts cleared. However, he hadn’t forgotten about the rest of the payment that he owed Sharada. Antony had even planned to visit Sharada at Chennai to handover the money. It was then he learned that the veteran actress would be attending a function at the town hall. Antony reached the town hall carrying an envelope with the money in it. He has also paid her an amount that is more than what he actually owed her.

Antony said that Sharada was a bit taken aback when he approached her with the money. However, the graceful actress immediately recognized the producer and spoke to him with love. Sharada was at the town hall to take part in the 50th anniversary celebrations of the movie Adimakal directed by KS Sethumadhavan. The event was organized by the JC Foundation.

Yesteryear actress Sheela, legendary vocalist P Susheela, assistant director V Sadanandan, Jose Manjilas and late actor Sathyan’s son Satheesh Sathyan received the mementos. The event was inaugurated by veteran director KG George.
