Annaatthe first reviews out: Rajinikanth starrer excites fans, disappoints buffs

Annaatthe, the much-awaited Rajinikanth film finally hit the screens on Thursday. The first shows began at 4 am in Chennai as fans celebrated the superstar's mega movie released on the occasion of Diwali.

The movie censored U/A with a run-time of 2 hours 43 minutes was also released at 4 am at Pudukottai and Thoothukudi.

The film featuring Keerthy Suresh and Nayanthara had been making waves ever since the makers unveiled the film's first poster.

It also stars Meena, Khushbu, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Vela Ramamoorthy, and Soori.

Directed by Siva, Annaatthe is bankrolled by renowned Kollywood producer Kalanithi Maran under his production banner Sun Pictures.

The early reports are out and looks like the film is getting mixed reviews. While a section of the fans are hailing the movie as a Diwali treat, movie buffs claim that it has nothing new to offer.

Earlier, the production house had said in a tweet that Annaatthe would be screened in as many as 677 theatres in the United States alone.

In the UAE, which has a considerable number of Indians, the film was being released in 117 screens.

In Malaysia, the film would be screened in 110 theatres, while in neighbouring Singapore, it would be screened in 23 theatres. The film will be screened in 86 screens in Sri Lanka.

The family entertainer is to be released in 17 theatres in Canada, 35 theatres in the United Kingdom and 43 theatres in Europe. Besides, 85 theatres in Australia and New Zealand also released the movie.
