Kerala Police have made a cheeky attempt to cash in on the Minnal Murali wave by releasing a short video of an omnipresent cop who fights crime.

The social media team of Kerala Police that in the past made funny and thought-provoking videos has used the buzz surrounding the Tovino Thomas-starrer Minnal Murali -- set for a Netflix release on December 24 -- for self-promotion.

The protagonist is a Civil Police Officer called Minnal Murali who rushes to crime scenes and prevents untoward incidents. Murali thwarts a harassment attempt and also apprehends a goon who was terrorising locals on the street.

Murali is also portrayed as a lathi-wielding cop who thrashes protesters and rescues a child. Within an hour of posting the video had over 24,000 views on Facebook alone.

The 2.23-minute video shared on the Kerala Police's official Facebook page on Thursday has been well received with netizens lauding the attempt.

However, some users also taunted the state police by mentioning its alleged setbacks in several cases notably, the pink police harassment issue at Attingal, and recent gang wars in Thiruvananthapuram, etc.
