If you ask Jagadish whether prefers television or cinema, he might take a while to come up with an answer. Because he is as much invested in Television as in films. He made his television debut in the Nedumudi Venu directed Kairali Vilasam Lodge (came on DD?). After anchoring and judging several television shows, he is excited about hosting Mazhavil Manorama’s Panam Tharum Padam. Jagadish waxes eloquent about his New Year Plans.
The joy that television gives
Being the chief judge of a reality show for 12 years made me get closer to my audience and that I consider as a major achievement. I am very particular about keeping double-meaning jokes, vulgarity, and abuses away from my show. I would like to believe that I played a key part in removing content that mocked soldiers in our shows. I think Television shows should also offer some kind of social message to society than be a harbinger of entertainment. Since I am a college lecturer by profession my words and actions have been looked upon with respect by my colleagues and audience. And that gives me confidence.
Entertainment, information, and money
There are a few things that excited me when I was invited to anchor this new show. It’s not just about information and entertainment but also about money. You are shown a popular image, get money if you are able to answer correctly. Each picture will hide some curiosity and mischief and the contestant will need to do a lot of guessing games. Not just that the contestant has the right to ask any sort of questions to me. It isn’t easy to share your life experiences with a touch of humour or narrate it in an interesting way. There is also an opportunity to talk about the various film characters and perhaps exchange some unknown insights about them. I will also provide some interesting techniques to make the studies more simplistic. We will also talk about the importance of family and value in our life, and it will hopefully have a positive influence on youngsters. But let me assure you that I won't be wearing the cape of a preacher here. There is also a role reversal here—from a judge assessing a contestant's performance to a host pulling out his bag of tricks to entertain the audience for almost an hour.
Hopeful of my films
My last film Bhramam in which I played Dr. Swamy, got me so much appreciation. And though a brief role, I also received some kind words for Madhuram. My next is Mohanlal’s Bro Daddy directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and it also marks my reunion with Mohanlal on screen after a long hiatus. Even in that, I am playing a doctor. Gold, Kaappa, Veekam, Marathakam, Thattukada Muthal Semitheri Vare, Munna, and Mammootty film (which is yet to begin filming) are my upcoming projects and I have interesting roles in them.
The new year brings a lot of changes
Ever since the promos of Panam Tharum Padam came out, I have been getting positive responses. So many people especially mentioned my new look. I am positive that I will be able to strike a chord with families and children. Panam Tharum Padam is my token of gratitude to my audience's love for me.
