Bollywood ‘Disco King’ Bappi Lahiri dies aged 69

Mumbai: Noted Bollywood music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri (69) passed away at Criticare Hospital in Mumbai.

He was undergoing treatment there for over a month. The iconic composer who had made disco music extremely popular had created hundreds of hit songs in the 70s and 80s.

‘Chalthe Chalte’, Disco Dancer’ and ‘Sharabi’ are some of his greatest hits.

Lahiri was discharged from the hospital on Monday. However, his health suddenly deteriorated on Tuesday. His family then called for a doctor to examine Lahiri at home.

The veteran composer was later admitted to the hospital. Dr Deepak Namjoshi, director of the hospital, said that he had multiple health issues and died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight. Bollywood movie ‘Baaghi 3’ was Lahiri’s last film as a composer.
