Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recuperating in a private hospital after he suffered stab wounds during a robbery attempt at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai. But this is not the actor's first brush with death. In 2013, the actor was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital after he complained of chest pain.

Accoring to reports, the actor had just returned from a tour of South Africa and had been on the way to attend the Stardust Awards to receive the award for best actor in a negative role for his performance in the film 'Omkara'. His sister Soha had revealed that the actor had been preparing for the event soon after the South African tour, which led to a lot of stress. Saif, who underwent a by was then diagnosed with Myocardial infarction, which is caused by lack of blood supply to the heart, a condition. He was only 36 then.

On Thursday, Saif was stabbed multiple times during an attempted robbery at his residence. Doctors released a medical bulletin, which stated that Saif suffered six wounds, of which two were deep. However, Saif was lucky since none of the stabs had injured any of his internal organs. Doctor Nitin Dange, who was part of the team revealed, "Saif Ali Khan was admitted in at 2:00 am. He sustained major injury to the spinal cord, in the thoracic spinal cord due to the lodged knife in the spine. Surgery was performed to remove the knife and also repair the leaking spinal fluid. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team. He is completely stable now and recovering well”.

Several members from the film fraternity including Sanjay Dutt, Malaika, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan, Sara Ali Khan, and Ibrahim Ali Khan visited the Lilavati Hospital to check up on the actor.
