New Delhi: "Anuja", a New Delhi-set short film, has been nominated in the Live Action Short category for the 97th Academy Awards. Directed by Adam J Graves, the film will compete against ‘A Lien’, ‘I'm Not a Robot’, ‘The Last Ranger’, and ‘The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent’ at the prestigious awards ceremony.
The 2025 Oscars, initially delayed twice due to wildfires in Los Angeles, saw nominations announced by Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott.
Anuja tells the compelling story of a gifted nine-year-old girl who must choose between pursuing her education or joining her sister in factory work—a decision with life-altering consequences for both. The cast features Sajda Pathan and Ananya Shanbhag in lead roles.
The film boasts an impressive lineup of producers, including two-time Oscar-winning Guneet Monga as executive producer and Hollywood star-writer Mindy Kaling as producer. Recently, global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas also joined the project as an executive producer, reported PTI.
The 97th Academy Awards will take place on March 2, 2025, at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
