Actor Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju has opened up about his father's health condition and revealed that his father is a cancer survivor. However, he dismissed rumours regarding his father's present health condition and said the actor is healthy now and is returning to normal life. Speculations regarding the actor's health surfaced after the actor looked visibly thinner while attending the marriage of producer S George's daughter. He also reportedly had trouble while speaking.
“My father is healthy now. We noticed a few comments that said my father was critically ill. But, we hardly have the time to respond to all such baseless comments. My father was suffering from throat cancer. His thyroid levels would naturally fluctuate due to the chemo and radiation therapy. This is also a reason why he had lost weight. It takes time, at least six months for the skin in the mouth and throat to regrow. He could then start eating his favourite food and gain weight again,” said Niranj.
Meanwhile, Maniyanpilla Raju will be next seen in 'Thudarum' starring Mohanlal in the lead role. Niranj said his father, who has regained his health, is excited to start shooting for the movie. “He will be acting in the film Thudarum. I am sure that it will be a grand comeback for him. All of us are eagerly waiting for it. Besides, he will soon start producing another movie starring Mohanlal. We are happy and relieved that he is all set to return to films,” Niranj stated.
Maniyanpilla Raju has played lead roles as well as supporting roles in countless Malayalam movies. His incredible comic timing is often hailed by both critics and audience alike. He has also played villain roles with conviction.
