Actor Venkat Raj, widely known in Telugu cinema as Fish Venkat, passed away on Friday at the age of 53. He had been undergoing treatment for kidney failure at PRK Hospital in Chandanagar, Hyderabad, and was on ventilator support in his final days.

Venkat had been dealing with kidney complications for several months. Both his kidneys had failed, and despite regular dialysis and medical care, his condition continued to worsen.

He began his film career with the 2000 release ‘Kushi’ and went on to appear in a variety of roles, often recognised for his comic timing and his Telangana accent. His performances in films such as ‘Aadi’, ‘Bunny’ and ‘Gabbar Singh’ earned him a steady place in the industry.
In recent years, he was seen in ‘Slum Dog Husband’ and ‘Narakasura’. His passing is being remembered quietly across the Telugu film fraternity, with many recalling his contribution to supporting and character roles over the years.
