The much-anticipated ‘Ronth’, starring Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew, is now streaming on OTT, and it’s already earning glowing praise from audiences online. Directed by Shahi Kabir, the film follows two police officers during a tense 24-hour patrol, exploring how a single day can unravel layers of morality, duty, and power.

Dileesh Pothan portrays Inspector Yohannan, a seasoned officer who understands the unspoken realities of the system. Roshan Mathew plays Dinanath, a younger cop still learning not only the ropes of the job but also the emotional and ethical burdens that come with it.

Social media users have been raving about the film. One user on X wrote: “#DileeshPothan #RoshanMathew and my latest crush, director #ShahiKabir—
You guys are truly spectacular. #Ronth is cinematic craft at its best. One of the finest cop stories ever!”
Another praised the emotional depth of the film: “I wasn’t prepared for the punch in the gut this film delivered. There are many powerful moments in its tightly woven, unflinching narrative—but the most moving are the ones that humanize the two officers, played superbly by Dileesh and Roshan. The ending hits hard.”

A third added: “Ronth is a gritty, slow-burn police drama that feels raw and real. It dives deep into the cracks of the justice system, showing its darker, more human side.”
Though it released over a month ago, Ronth continues to gain momentum thanks to strong word of mouth and praise for its authenticity—particularly Dileesh Pothan’s nuanced performance.

In an interview with Onmanorama, director Shahi Kabir revealed that the seed of Ronth was actually sown years ago, in what was originally his first script.
“It never got made. But after 'Joseph' and 'Ela Veezha Poonchira', I revisited the idea and shaped it into this,” he said.
Drawing from his real-life experiences in the police force, Kabir crafts a story that feels personal, raw, and deeply reflective—cementing his reputation as one of Malayalam cinema’s most grounded storytellers.
The movie is streaming on JioHotstar.
