Praveen Narayanan, the director of the Suresh Gopi film "Janaki V Vs State of Kerala" (JSK), expressed his astonishment over how Govindachamy, a convict in the Soumya murder case, managed to escape from a high-security prison. He raised concerns about the jail authorities' failure to notice changes in a convict like him, particularly when he began eating less food. Praveen questioned the feasibility of a criminal disconnecting power and CCTV without the officers noticing.

“He escaped from prison with just one hand. Can you believe that? But it raises several questions. Govindachamy is monitored by four special guards who are supposed to search his cell daily. How did he manage to hide a hacksaw blade despite such tight security? Why didn’t the guard find it suspicious when Govindachamy started eating less? Why wasn’t this reported? How was he able to ask the doctor to recommend chapati instead of rice, and why did the doctor comply? How did he cut off the power and damage the CCTV? How did he scale the perimeter wall with only one hand? How many police officers with two hands and proper training could accomplish that feat? There aren’t any answers,” Praveen wrote on his social media handle.
