Actors Shwetha Menon and Devan will contest for the post of president in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). The final list of candidates for various posts in the association was released on Thursday after scrutiny of the nominations was completed. Actor Jagadish was among the frontrunners for the president along with Shwetha and Devan, but backed out on the final day of scrutiny of nominations. As per reports, Jagadish’s candidacy had caused displeasure among many in AMMA, who criticised him for his statements against the previous executive committee.

Cukkoo Parameswaran and Ravindran are in the fray for the post of general secretary, while Jayan Cherthala, Lakshmi Priya, and Nasser Latheef will contest for the post of vice-president. Ansiba Hassan was nominated as joint secretary after 12 candidates who submitted nominations to the post withdrew their names.
